A gold shop was robbed by an “armed” man who managed to run off with RM250,000 worth of jewellery at Bangunan Arked MARA, Kuala Sungai Baru.
On March 20, the 43-year-old shop owner was inside with his 2 kids when a man dressed in black and wearing a helmet to hide his face walked in, according to Sinar Harian.

He took 2 trays containing 50 gold bracelets
Alor Gajah District Police Chief, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah, said the victim was too distracted by his phone to notice the suspect walking in.
The suspect then pulled out a gun, making the man panic and rush into the office with his kids. While hiding, he heard glass break once before everything went quiet.
“When he stepped out, the display glass was smashed. Around 2 trays holding 50 gold bracelets of different weights were gone, with losses estimated at RM250,000,” he said.

Police found a black toy gun on the ground
A witness saw the suspect, who seemed to be acting alone, walk into the shop wearing all black and looking suspicious. Shortly after, they heard glass shattering and saw the suspect rushing out before speeding off on a motorcycle parked at the end of the shop.
With help from the Melaka police forensics team, officers found 3 fingerprints and a black plastic gun left on the shop floor.
The case is being investigated as an armed robbery under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code.
Anyone with information about the suspect is encouraged to contact the Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 06-5562222.
