This is certainly very unfortunate for the car owner.

A CCTV footage of a man stealing a car at a petrol station in Pahang has surfaced online and gone viral.

It is said that the footage was from 28 September (Monday) at 7am in the morning. The petrol station is situated in Taman Sri Semantan Batu 3, Temerloh, Pahang.

The video starts off with a woman refilling her yellow car in the petrol station. At the 10-second mark, we can see that a man has entered the CCTV’s field of vision. Said man was wearing a grey hoodie and jeans while carrying a small sling bag.

He walked slowly towards the car and put his hood on. He then walked towards the driver’s seat and opened the door. The owner of the car was still oblivious and the man had already entered the car.

The woman then opened up the back door and saw the man inside. Panicked, the man then sped while the poor lady clung onto the car and was thrown off by the speed. The gas nozzle which was still in the gas tanks was flung off and it hit the motorcyclist at another gas pump.

Netizens commented on this issue and said that everyone should be cautious by switching off the engine, locking the doors and being more aware of the surroundings when filling up petrol.

In the latest update, the culprit has been found and detained by the Subang Jaya Police. It seems that the man had past criminal records involving drug abuse. The suspect will be brought to the Temerloh police and this case will be investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
