It always pays to be nice, and this is just a class case of the old adage.
A man who secretly paid for Tony Fernandes’ lunch recently got a surprised himself when the Air Asia boss sent him a gift and thank you note in return.
According to the report by Guang Ming Daily, translated by The Star Online, 27 year-old Jackson Yee was celebrating his birthday lunch alone when he noticed Fernandes and a group of his friends sitting across from him at a restaurant in Putrajaya.
Jackson told the Chinese daily that he initially wanted to take a picture with Fernandes as he sees him as one of his personal idols, but decided not to as the AirAsia group chief executive was engaged in a conversation with friends.
Instead, he decided to pay for Fernandes’ lunch – a total of RM60 – and left him a note, thanking him for being such an inspiration to all Malaysians.
“Dear Tan Sri, Thanks for being awesome & inspiring for all Malaysians. Today is my birthday! Hope you enjoyed the meal. My name is Jackson Yee.”
To everyone’s surprise, Mr Fernandes got word of Jackson’s kindness and even personally posted a comment onto his Facebook page, giving Jackson his thanks and a free ticket to the Maldives!
Jackson wrote the following in response to Fernandes’ post: “This has just made my day and inspired (me) to continue inspiring others. Hope this can send positive vibes to everyone here.”
Truly heartwarming.
