Recently, a dashcam video recording of a rock being thrown at a vehicle from a flyover causing the windshield to break went viral on social media.
In a statement, Kubang Pasu District Police Chief, Superintendent Rodzi Abu Hassan said the incident is believed to have occurred at Jambatan Bandar Darulaman, Kilometer 32.6 Lebuhraya Utara Selatan (U), Kedah.
According to Rodzi, the suspect was found throwing several chunks of rocks at the victim’s vehicle from a bridge. The irresponsible act has resulted in damage to the front of the victim’s vehicle.
Later on, the Kubang Pasu Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) released a statement saying they have successfully arrested the suspect involved in the rock-throwing incident from the Bandar Darulaman bridge, KM.31 North Selatan Highway (U), Kedah.
They said after receiving the viral video, the police continued to set up a task force to hunt down the individual.
Supt Rodzi Bin Abu Hassan said during the operation to hunt the individual, they saw a suspicious-looking man riding a motorcycle and stopped him on the highway from Jalan Wang Tepus towards Bandar Darulaman, Jitra.
The man then got off his motorcycle and took something from inside the body of his motorcycle. Police officers continued to approach the individual and found two rocks in his motorcycle.
The suspect admitted to his wrongdoings and even had 7 previous records of criminal drug cases. The police have also found that the suspect was positive for Methamphetamine.
He has since been arrested and will be taken to court for a remand application. The case will be investigated under section 427 of the penal code for treason.
