A Malaysian woman took to social media to recount how her daughter was grabbed by a random man while they were at a supermarket in Melaka on Thursday (December 19) at around 9:15pm.

The MelakaExplorer Facebook page shared the incident, where the random man ended up being beaten up by the woman’s family until his clothes were torn off, as supermarket staff allegedly did nothing to apprehend the man in question.

The woman, who was alone at the supermarket with her 2 daughters, shared, “After paying (for groceries), my eldest daughter said she needed to use the washroom. Seeing that the washrooms were just next to the kids’ playground, I thought that many parents were playing with their kids there, so it must be safe.”

“So, I brought my eldest and youngest daughters to the toilet and little did I know that when I came out, suddenly there was a weird Malay man who grabbed my eldest daughter and tried to pull at me. And he said, ‘Jom enjoy lah! (Let’s enjoy lah)!’.

Feeling fearful for her kids, the woman then pulled her daughter back and yelled at the man, leading him to walk away.

She quickly asked for help from someone nearby, and a staff member told her to report the incident to a customer service counter.

“After the staff at the customer service counter knew of the situation, they merely gave me a piece of paper and asked me to fill in what had happened. At that time, no one took action on my behalf, like chasing after the man or going to the scene of the incident to check things out,” she shared, adding that the staff said they would check the CCTV cameras and get back to her.

Seeing that no action was being taken, she decided to take matters into her own hands and get her family members to go to the supermarket to catch the man.

“I quickly went back there to see if he was still in the supermarket. Thankfully, I went down to (an eatery), and there he was, sitting and enjoying a drink casually. But my eldest daughter was crying, so I was forced to take them to the car and send them home as quickly as possible so that I could go back to block the man from leaving,”

“During the journey, I was quietly praying to God to not let bad people like this escape. In 2 minutes, I was back at the supermarket, and thankfully, he was still there enjoying his drink. I immediately called my husband and brother to come quickly and show him the consequences of touching someone else’s daughter,” the woman explained.

She added that when they apprehended the man, he had allegedly provoked them.

“So, this man seems to not have any mental issues. It’s more towards him pretending to be crazy and acting stupid. So, today, for the sake of traumatised kids, and as parents and adults, we showed a bad example in front of people by beating him up in public. But, after that, we also told people to fight back with bravery if they are bullied,” she said.

It is unsure as to what happened to the man following the beating.

Stay tuned for more updates.
