Just yesterday, we shared how a differently-abled delivery rider had lost his motorcycle to a thief and was struggling with debt. Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim then purchased a new motorcycle for him with his own income and along with Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, they cleared the rider of his debts.

Though, the rider still needed leg surgery, which prompted Sim to share the rider’s account number in hopes that the general public will come to the rider’s aid. And, it appears that they did.

Sim took to his official Facebook page to share how the general public donated a total of around RM70,000 to the rider, Muadz, within 24 hours!

He wrote, “In less than 24 hours, Muadz has managed to collect almost RM70,000 for his leg surgery. Among those who contributed are Chinese, Indians and Malays, who are Malaysians of independence. This Malaysia Day, I want to tell brother Muadz and all my friends, never give up hope no matter how hard our lives are. We have each other, we will take care of each other.”

“We are different religions, we are different races. We may even live in different states. But, we’re both fathers, we are both Malaysians.”

Sim went on to share how, with the aid provided by Malaysians, Muadz will be able to have his leg surgery!

“Because of all of you, Muadz will walk upright again. You are all my heroes! I salute you. I love you. I love Malaysia.”

We’re not crying, you’re crying!

It’s so amazing to see how Malaysians unite to help our fellow community members in need, when it truly matters.

And for that reason, we are so proud to be Malaysian!
