Malaysian Twitter users have probably noticed a video circulating all over the social media platform this past weekend.
The video was of a Twitter user named Arieff who decided to teach his followers how to speak in a British accent.
In the video, he explained that he decided to teach everyone how he achieved his accent because a lot of his followers have been asking him about it.
Arieff went on to explain how one can easily speak in the accent, simply by watching a lot of English movies, TV series and interviews with British stars like Tom Hiddleston and David Beckham.
He claims that mimicking their accents can help improve pronunciation and perhaps even grammar. However, he then went on to say,
“Trust me, my grammar is not very good. I’d say I have average grammar, that’s how bad I am.”
“To me, achieving this accent is not about grammar, it’s more to your tongue placement and your ‘mouth work’.”
Well, it takes a lot for someone to admit their own weaknesses. Good on him for trying to learn, though!
Although his video was met with a lot of praise, some Malaysian YouTubers couldn’t resist turning this into a meme.
Comedian Haikal Idris decided to make his own video to teach Malaysians how to speak in a Malay accent, and it got loads of netizens wheezing with laughter! (Watch his full video here!)
Even Harvinth Skin hopped on the bandwagon with his own version, where he taught Malaysians how to achieve an Indian accent. And of course, it was just as hilarious!
Well, looks like it’s only a matter of time until someone makes another video to teach everyone how to do a Chinese accent.
To be honest, we can’t wait!
