Looks like we have even more reason to be extra careful when hailing a ride-sharing app.
Recently, a Twitter user shared a horrifying story about her friend, who she said was groped and almost raped by her GrabCar driver.
The user shared screenshots of texts her friend sent to her, explaining the traumatic experience that went down involving her friend and a GrabCar driver.
In the texts, she said the lady’s driver, Aziezul Izuwan, frequently picks up passengers from Bangi to Putrajaya.
When he picked her up, Aziezul asked the lady to sit in the front passenger seat next to him so they could talk more.
This seemed normal at first, but during a lull in their conversation, Aziezul took advantage of the silence and proceeded to touch her breasts.
The Twitter user then posted more information about this driver, saying that he drives a Myvi.
Some netizens were curious as to why she took to Twitter instead of reporting the incident to the police. But she explained that the lady did in fact go to the police about this incident already.
She also mentioned that she would be deleting her thread about the incident because her friend didn’t want it up for too long, especially with all the negative remarks surrounding the incident.
Since the Tweets surfaced, some netizens managed to find the driver’s Instagram account so that a face could be put to the name, in order to warn other girls who are frequent GrabCar users.
Soon after the account was exposed, many netizens commented on his posts, calling him out on sexually harassing the lady. Since then, the account has been deleted.
Apparently, the driver’s side of the story recently surfaced online, revealing pretty contrasting information.
Although his side of the story came up, many netizens are still skeptical about this report and aren’t sure if this is reliable since some of the information doesn’t match up to what we already know.
Whatever it is, we hope the authorities, along with GrabCar, sort out this issue as soon as possible.
As for everyone who takes rides alone, please be more wary! Especially for fellow female passengers.
