Malaysian food has been voted the most delicious at the Osaka World Expo 2025 in a special survey by Japan’s Yomiuri TV on August 21.

Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the win shows how unique and amazing Malaysia’s food and hospitality are to the world.

Malaysian food is now winning over visitors!

Previously, Tengku Zafrul shared on his Facebook that he had tried one of the dishes, roti canai, at the expo.

He noted that, surprisingly, even with a price tag of RM50 per piece, the roti canai still drew massive crowds, selling around 1,500 pieces a day.

“Many visitors were willing to queue for 2 hours just to taste our roti canai,” he said.

In his latest post, he shared that the Malaysia Pavilion’s dishes were voted number one in the special ‘Expo Gourmet’ survey.

“We’ve always believed Malaysian food is the best, and now visitors at the Osaka World Expo 2025 agree with us.”

“This win feels extra special”

Meanwhile, second place in the category went to Australia, while third place was shared by Saudi Arabia, Germany, and France.

Tengku Zafrul also gave a shoutout to the whole team at the Malaysia Pavilion for their hard work during the expo.

“This win feels extra special since the survey was done with Expo 2025 season pass holders, people who enjoy the food there regularly, not just one-time visitors,” he said.
