This is amazing!
Yet again, another Malaysian has made us proud on the international stage as she bagged the third place in the Mrs World 2019 beauty pageant.
According to Datin Harven Kaur, Kokilam Kathirvailu was named the second runner-up in the prestigious competition which was held at the West Gate Resort in Las Vegas, US on Saturday (4 May 2019).
FYI, Datin Harveen Kaur is the Mrs Malaysia World national director, and she was also the winner of the Mrs Malaysia World 2017 title.
What makes this win even more special is that it’s the first time in 35 years that a Malaysian was declared one of the top three in the beauty pageant. Nice!
Reacting to her historic victory, the mother of three said that she was honoured to be the first Malaysian to have emerged in the top three in 35 years. She also added that married women should always dream big. Kokilam was quoted by The Malay Mail as saying,
“Married women should always think big and never compromise on their dreams and passion. By winning this beauty pageant, I want to set an example that life does not end for women once they are married. Think big and achieve your passion.”
“Married women, be it a career woman or otherwise should not stay at home and (they) must learn to multitask.”
Preach, kween!
Taking her role as a beauty queen seriously, Kokilam said that she plans to “work and advocate more for women empowerment” in the near future.
Prior to this, the 34-year-old, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, won the Mrs Malaysia World 2018-2019 pageant in September 2018 before contesting for the Mrs World 2019 title.
On the other hand, the winner of Mrs World 2019 is Jennifer Le from Vietnam, while the second place spot was snatched up by Matapa Maila Rikhotso of South Africa. Congrats, ladies!
In case you didn’t know, the competition consists of contestants from 38 countries all around the world. The Mrs World beauty pageant was founded in 1984 by David Marmel and is the oldest as well as the first pageant of its kind. Currently, it has national directors in 80 countries all over the world.
On that note, we are very proud of Kokilam, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours. That said, we hope that every woman in Malaysia will take a page out of Kokilam’s book and dream big.
Once again, congrats Kokilam!
