Social media users are claiming that alcohol and call girls are being brought into a Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) camp to entertain military personnel, including married men.

In the post, the user alleged that a minibar was operating within the military camp, where officers were seen dancing with women while others participated in karaoke sessions. In another post by Malaysian rapper @capricedaddycap, a man, who claimed to be a former army officer, reached out to him, saying that this is NOT a new phenomenon.

“They are mostly young girls who thought it was simply drinking and having fun.”

In the post, the man claimed that one of the most affected groups was young military personnel, who were forced to fork out as much as RM400 per day for alcohol alone. Some of them even had to apply for personal loans just to cover the costs.

In another post, a woman, who claimed to be the wife of a military personnel, said that she is in the midst of a divorce after her husband was caught “having fun” with call girls at the military camp.

Caprice was also told that the party that tried to put an end to the immoral activities in the military camps was allegedly transferred within 24 hours.

The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) responded to the claims

In an official statement today (5 January), MINDEF said that it is taking the allegations seriously, and that ATM had been instructed to conduct an immediate internal investigation to thoroughly ascertain the validity of the allegations.

“MINDEF stresses that the allegations do not reflect the true culture, values and practices of the ATM, which are based on discipline, professionalism and strict adherence to security procedures.”

“If found to be true, firm action will be taken without compromise against any party in accordance with current regulations, procedures and laws.”

At the same time, the public is advised not to make any speculation or premature conclusions that could mislead the public and damage the reputation of MINDEF and the ATM.
