Following the recent backlash after the official announcement of Malaysia’s Olympic outfit, Malaysia is set to redesign it and come up with an improved version.
According to New Straits Times, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is currently in the works of designing an exclusive new outfit for the event, in partnership with Yonex.
The controversial Olympic attire will be improved!
However, only a few will be made for about 25 athletes, while other team members like coaches, support staff, and officials will stick with the controversial attire.
Yonex initially proposed several designs to OCM. The committee chose 1 design that seemed appealing in theory, but when the outfits, it didn’t turn out as expected.
Criticism from Malaysians
Last Sunday, the gold-themed outfits with tiger stripe designs were supposed to represent Malaysia’s hopes for gold medals in Paris.
However, Malaysians didn’t hold back in their criticism, calling the outfits “ugly”, “cheap-looking,” and outdated compared to previous designs which has led OCM to decide to come up with a newly improved version.
