This is a certainly exceptional student!
NextShark reported that a first generation Malaysian immigrant in Los Angeles, California has received praise for getting into all eight Ivy League schools in the United States.
17 year-old Cassandra Hsiao recently received acceptance letters from Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Columbia.
Those weren’t the only schools she got accepted into, though! She also got into other prestigious schools like Stanford, John Hopkins, University of Southern California, Northwestern, New York University, and Amherst College just to name a few.
Cassandra moved from Malaysia to the United States when she was just five years old.
Her application essay about learning English when she first moved to the country was what impressed these schools.
She also has very impressive grades, scoring 1540 on her SATs. She even has a 4.67 GPA!
Cassandra isn’t just book smart, though! She’s also incredibly active in her extracurriculars. She’s editor-in-chief of her school’s magazine on top of being student body president.
She also frequently writes for several websites like crixit, teenreads, fanlala, and LA Times High School Insider.
In an interview with NBC4, Cassandra said,
“It’s completely surreal. I opened them [the acceptance letters] one after another, and they all were saying, ‘Congratulations! Congratulations!’ And I know that is something special.”
Cassandra is interested in studying English, journalism, and film and is currently making her decision on which school she should attend.
It’s definitely a tough one since she’s spoilt for choice now!
