Mamak restaurants have always been an integral part of the Malaysian culture, as it’s a place where people can get affordable local food at anytime of day (or night).
Considering how Malaysian mamak restaurants are, would you be willing to let it go forever?
The MALAYSIA MOST VIRAL Twitter page recently shared a video showcasing half-eaten fried chicken that is full of maggots at a mamak.
They wrote, “Disgusting. And the maggots in that chicken are a lot. Just accept it lah, if it is already in the stomach.”
In the video, the person who consumed the chicken showed how the maggots were in the inner parts of it.
They only discovered the maggots after eating most of the fried chicken!
This left a bad taste in the mouths of many Malaysians who have since shared that they have long boycotted mamak restaurants due to their own experiences and are encouraging others to do the same while condemning those who still patron mamak restaurants despite multiple cases of dirty or spoilt food.
“Since long before this, I don’t eat at mamak restaurants.”
“Okay, I’m not eating at mamak restaurants anymore.”
“This is why I don’t eat at mamak restaurants.”
“Stupid, there’s already so many cases of this and you guys are still going to eat at mamak restaurants. Cleanliness out.”
But this begs the question, can Malaysians really let go of mamak restaurants?
“Many are commenting that they’ve stopped eating at mamak restaurants. But, when in Penang, they’ll want to eat Nasi Kandar at a mamak until they’re willing to queue for 1km.”
So, would you still go to mamak restaurants? Perhaps this video will help you make a decision on that:
