LRT 3 Construction Iron Scaffolding Collapses In Klang, Kills A Worker & Injures Four Others

A Bangladeshi construction worker was killed after the scaffolding at the Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang, Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT 3) construction site collapsed yesterday, 29 July (Thursday).

Based on a report by Astro Awani, the Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Norazam Khamis shared that they received an emergency call in regards to the incident at 2.41pm.

“The buried victim was successfully removed at 4.20pm but was confirmed dead,”

“Three other Bangladeshi victims and an Indonesian victim each suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident,” he said.

The construction workers that were saved were then brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.

According to Sinar Harian, Pembinaan Jaya Zira Sdn Bhd, the GS09 Work Package Contractor of the LRT 3 Project is currently working with the Fire and Rescue Department to investigate the cause of this incident.

They have since shared that a Stop Work Order (SWO) has been issued to cease all construction activities immediately.

“We would like to extend our condolences and apologies to the victims and their families, and apologise to the public for any inconvenience,” they shared.
