Good parents tend to love their children unconditionally, no matter if their child chooses to go down a different path than they did.
An example of this was seen recently, though unfortunately, at a cemetery.
The Negeri Sembilan kini Facebook page recently shared a post about an elderly Chinese couple, who was seen cleaning up a grave at a Muslim cemetery. It turns out that the grave belonged to their deceased son, who had married a Malay girl and converted to Islam prior to his death.
They wrote, “This happened this morning (October 1, Sunday), when we were visiting the graves of our late mother and late father. We stumbled upon this Chinese couple who was visiting one of the graves there. They could be in their 70s. They were just a few meters away from our late mother’s and late father’s graves.
“It was obvious that they were cleaning up the area of grave and the grave stone. They were washing off the dirt on the grave stone with the mineral water they brought with them. After that, it was like they were meditating.”
After the Chinese couple was done meditating, they made eye contact and smiled which allowed for a short conversation about why they were there.
It turns out that the grave belonged to their late son.
“They said their son converted to Islam after marring a Malay person. He had brain cancer and passed away 4 years ago. We’ve always come to this cemetery and we shed tears when we heard this sad story.”
“The love of a father and mother for their child, even if the child changed their religion, their love is still endless. This is a lesson for us today. Love your children unconditionally,” they said, adding that they sent a prayer for the couple’s late son.
It is truly saddening to see how elderly parents have to endure the loss of their child, but their unconditional love for him will live on forever.
