Are some of us a little too “snowflake” to accept criticisms, or are the words just too harsh to be accepted?
Local singer, Sissy Iman recently broke down emotionally on stage after being yelled at by one of the juries, Mas Idayu, who is one of Malaysia’s veteran singers. Many Malaysians have expressed dissatisfaction towards how Sissy was humiliated on the stage during the reality TV show, which was broadcasted live. In response to that, former singer and local celebrity chef, Chef Dato’ Fazley has weighed in.
In his Instagram post yesterday (January 23), Fazley highlighted that bullying doesn’t only happen on social media anymore, but nowadays it takes place even on a reality TV show.
“We should blame the person who uttered those words and who didn’t think about the dignity of the contestant and her family,” Fazley explained.
“Don’t wait until it’s too late”
The local celebrity chef then pointed out the possible consequences that may follow after being bullied and made it clear that one should not wait until it’s too late to feel guilty.
“Don’t wait until the victim has lost her direction, confidence, and in worse cases, suicide. I hope not to that extent,” Fazley added.
He also defended the production team and said that a lot of things are beyond their control, such as the words that come out of someone’s mouth.
“When it’s too much, it’s too much! Whatever you said, it’s 200% on you.”
Fazley, who also has a daughter expressed his wish for others to speak up against this matter.
On the latest episode of Famili Duo which was broadcasted on Sunday (January 22), jury Mas Idayu expressed her disappointment towards Sissy and her partner on stage, Naim Daniel. Naim remained calm following the criticism but not Sissy.
To those of you who are aware of the reality show and the jury, do you think she should’ve expressed her feedback in a better manner? Or do you think Sissy should learn to accept criticisms, regardless of how harsh they can be?
