Vern’s alleged “Allah design” shoes stirred up controversy online, and UMNO Youth leader, Dr. Akmal Salleh demanded an explanation within 24 hours, which the organisation provided last night (April 7).
“It’s 100% inspired graphic design”
In their statement, Vern’s assured the public that they have no intention of insulting or belittling any religion through the design of their logo.
“For everyone’s knowledge, this logo is 100 percent inspired based on the shadow of a rope line connected to a high heel shoe, as shown in the attached picture.”
The picture above shows the chronological order which resembles the design of the shoelace, the heel, and the sole.
Regardless, Vern’s also apologised for the flaw in the design which has caused confusion and upset many parties. Not long after the design went viral for the wrong reasons, Vern’s took immediate steps to fix the damage.
“We have immediately withdrawn all shoes with that design from sale, and we will refund the customers who have bought the shoes.”
To Vern’s, this was a valuable lesson and a reminder for them to refine future designs so that history will not repeat itself.
“Thank you, it’s a relief to know that”
Vern’s explanation was shared by social media users and thanks to the circulation, Dr. Akmal is also well-aware of the explanation. Fortunately, he acknowledged and accepted Vern’s explanation for the matter.
In a Facebook post last night, Dr Akmal said,
“The logo does not resemble Allah but it was merely the design of the shoes, which have been withdrawn from sales.”
Dr. Akmal also thanked the company for its effort in giving explanations, which he dubbed “a relief to all Muslim friends.”
Now that Vern’s has explained the logo design, what do you think of it?
