As desperate as one can be when it comes to financial hardship, borrowing money from loan sharks is always NOT an option, or at the very least, the last resort which we try our best to avoid. If you happen to have borrowed money from them, you better be ready to pay them when the time is due.
But what happens when loan sharks who are on the hunt for a debtor got the address wrong? A recent blunder from a money lending company has surprisingly shown how loan sharks can be polite too. A family has recently become the unintentional victim of a group of loan sharks who targeted the wrong house, to which the latter sincerely apologised.
Here’s what happened.
Sin Chew reported that the loan sharks told the victim that they are looking for a debtor, known as Ho. However, they visited the wrong house and when they did not receive the money, they began to put up papers at the front door as a “reminder” for the family to pay their debts.
In total, 6 men on 3 motorcycles visited the victim’s house and showed the image and details of the debtor, to which the family said they have no idea who that is!
The men visited the victim’s house at SS24, PJ on December 28, 2022, and following continuous harassment, the victim sought help from the Public Complaints & Service Team of the Selangor Youth League.
The director of the organisation, Li Wen Bing held a press conference on Tuesday (3 January) and revealed that the loan shark has since apologised to the victim, Chen via WhatsApp. Based on the WhatsApp conversation, we have to say that the loan shark was really polite!
Chen “wished” the loan shark all the best in finding their debtor, and asked the latter to stop harassing his family again, according to China Press.
“Sorry bro. I sincerely apologise for making you anxious”, the loan shark politely responded.
The loan shark also confirmed that it was purely a misunderstanding and the matter has since been resolved. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and we hope that the loan shark will manage to trace the debtor.
We truly cannot imagine Chen’s fear when the errand men paid him a visit. How would you have reacted if you were wrongly targeted for someone else’s blunder?
