National badminton single player Lee Zii Jia was defeated by India’s Lakshya Sen in the All England semi-finals match yesterday at Birmingham, United Kingdom.
After losing the first game (13-21), Lee Zii Jia won the second game (21-12) with the support and cheers from Malaysians. The match ended with Lee’s defeat (19-21).
Despite him failing to defend his All England title, Malaysians are still proud and showing him love and support all over the internet. The name Lee Zii Jia was trending on Twitter, with many netizens using the hashtag #stanLZJ.

On 20 March, Lee Zii Jia posted a statement on his official Facebook account, expressing gratitude to Malaysians who were cheering for him at the stadium.
“Sad to end this year All England in semi-final BUT I’m so grateful to have the crowds cheering loudly around the stadium after so long. Glad to be back in Birmingham and now it’s time to get back to my trainingand prepare for the upcoming tournaments. Cheers ,” he said.
