An estimated 40 per cent to 45 per cent of individuals diagnosed with Covid-19 are asymptomatic. However, that doesn’t mean that we should treat the virus any less seriously.
A barber from Lagenda Heights recently decided to be transparent and disclosed that he tested positive for Covid-19 with no symptoms on his Facebook account.
He immediately informed all his family members, friends, and customers after he received his Covid-19 results. The barbershop was temporarily closed down for 14 days to undergo deep sanitisation, as reported by Sin Chew Daily.
He stated in the post that he went for the screening test on 2 January 2021, the moment he knew he was in contact with a Covid-19 positive patient. He also reassured the public that he and his family members have been self-quarantining since then.
All the customers and friends who have been in close contact with him since 29 December have also been instructed to undergo screening tests and self-quarantine for 14 days as stipulated under MOH’s standard operating procedures.
“I am deeply sorry. For customers who have lost my contact number, you can personally message me after you have seen this post. I met the Covid-19 positive patient on 29 December 2020. So for those who met me before this date, don’t worry. Thank you.”
He also emphasised that he does not blame the person who infected him with the virus. He mentioned that this virus is everywhere and it can infect anyone. Therefore, people should not take it lightly. People should take precautionary measures such as wearing masks, sanitising their hands, and avoiding crowded places.
We appreciate him for being so honest and let’s hope for a speedy recovery for him!
