KL International Airport (KLIA) and the Langkawi International Airport (LGK) have been listed among the world’s best airports for Q2 2022 in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey.
Malaysia Airports made the announcement yesterday, reporting a perfect score of 5.00 for both airports in the global survey by Airports Council International (ACI).
The survey measures overall passenger satisfaction with terminal safety, facilities, services, and cleanliness.
KLIA shared the achievement with seven other airports in the over 40 million passengers per annum (mppa) category.
As for LGK, it was the only airport scoring full points in the 2 – 5 mppa category.
Dato’ Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, said, “It is definitely more challenging to continuously maintain a great passenger experience as we welcome more and more passengers at our airports, but we will not waver in our commitment to do so.”
He also said “the top three compliments received through the ASQ survey were related to smooth processes at the touchpoints, courteous on-ground assistance and fast check-in at the counters.”
Netizens are not impressed
While gaining recognition from a global entity is primarily something to be proud of, most netizens are doubtful this time.
They called the survey results a joke as their experience with KLIA has been less than stellar.
“Whatever food available is a disgrace to Malaysian food.”
“The aerotrain was down for months.”
Nonetheless, a couple of netizens acknowledged that KLIA has its merits too.
Our airports appear pretty decent, but to be named among the world’s best is debatable.
