The upcoming Coldplay concert in KL set to happen on November 22 has received plenty of calls for it to be cancelled. Recently, a religious department in Perak released a statement calling for it to be cancelled due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Similarly, Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Dr Luqman Abdullah has called on the public not to support the concert, adding that it would not benefit society.

“The band is also linked to immoral groups promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) practices. We advise organisers not to proceed and for the public not to support the programme, which is clearly against the values of this country,” he said in a statement.

“For the Muslim community, there are boundaries that must be adhered to, and forms of entertainment outside this are against Islamic law.”

He added that the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) had issued entertainment guidelines and that Muslims could refer to them.
