A 32‑year‑old Malaysian lorry driver was charged with robbing a Thai woman of RM300 while armed with a screwdriver and a metal ruler.
He was also accused of committing sexual intercourse against the order of nature on the victim inside a car.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, G. Loganathan, allegedly robbed the victim inside a vehicle in Taman Gembira, Kuala Lumpur, at around 2 AM on 26 December last year. He was also charged with committing sexual intercourse against the order of nature without the victim’s consent in the same vehicle along Jalan Midah, Cheras, between 2 AM and 12:30 PM on the same day.
For the first charge, brought under Section 392 of the Penal Code read together with Section 397, Loganathan faces a prison sentence of up to 14 years and caning if convicted.
The second charge is under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between five and 20 years, and may also include whipping upon conviction.
Loganathan pleaded not guilty to both charges and applied for bail

His lawyer, Charanpal Singh, requested that the court grant bail, citing his client’s medical condition, as Loganathan suffers from a hernia and requires hospital treatment. Charanpal also told the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court yesterday (30 January) that his client was willing to comply with additional bail conditions.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir opposed bail, citing the seriousness of the offences and the risk that the accused could flee or interfere with the victim and witnesses, as the victim is a Thai national.
Sessions Court judge Dr Azrol Abdullah rejected the bail application due to the seriousness of the case and fixed 16 March for mention, BERNAMA reported.
