A Malaysian woman alleged that she was molested on a bus at around 5 AM when most passengers were asleep.

The victim’s elder sister, Puan Hazirah, disclosed the incident in a Threads post that has since gone viral on social media. At the time, the victim was travelling from Pekan, Pahang, back to her university in Butterworth, Penang on Wednesday night (21 January). Hazirah stated that her younger sister managed to record and capture the man’s face, and he could be seen trying to avoid the camera.

Hazirah also mentioned that her younger sister had lodged a police report at the Penang Police Station, and hoped that her post would alert the public about the man’s alleged harassment.

“The driver permitted him to board the bus even though he did not have a ticket.”

In a conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Hazirah said that her sister was doing okay after lodging the police report, but was still traumatised by the incident. She had set her alarm clock for 5 AM as she wanted to revise her study for an examination on Friday (23 January). Unfortunately, she was rudely awakened before her alarm rang.

“She woke up after hearing what sounded like someone whispering to her and felt an uneasy sensation beneath her buttock.”

“Coincidentally, she wanted to look for her earpods, so she moved away from her seat, and saw a hand under her buttock,” Hazirah said.

The victim then screamed, to which the man, who was seated behind her, apologised before she took out her phone to record the incident. The man then changed his seat, and the victim immediately alerted the co-driver about the matter.

Hazirah also told WORLD OF BUZZ that the man boarded the bus at a different bus station in Simpang Pulai, Perak, and he allegedly did not purchase a bus ticket but begged the driver for a ride.

“The driver initially refused to do so but out of courtesy, he allowed the man to board the bus.”

The co-driver reprimanded the man and forced him to get off the bus. Hazirah added that after the incident, the bus driver contacted the victim and expressed his intention to file a police report. She also believes that the driver felt guilty for allowing a passenger without a ticket to board the bus.

“Malaysians, please be alert about sexual harassment!”

Hazirah further stated that none of the passengers on the bus offered her 24-year-old sister any assistance. She also noted that some appeared irritated when the bus was stopped to allow the man to disembark.

“Maybe they felt the quick stop was troubling. Please highlight this and urge Malaysians to be more alert about this matter. This is a crime, not a regular case,” Hazirah told WORLD OF BUZZ.
