While tensions may continue to rise as Malaysians continue to face the ever increasing number of Covid-19 cases within the country, it is worth remembering that during these trying times, kindness and compassion are virtues that will help see us through this crisis.
Such is the case of two policemen in Johor, who extended a helping hand to a family when they needed it most.
According to this Facebook post, two traffic policemen were doing their part to enforce the MCO in the Taman Tampoi Indah area of Johor Bahru, when they noticed that a family of three at a local playground. Approaching them, they reminded them that during this MCO period, everyone should keep indoors and try not to leave the house.
But as they were told to leave for home, the mother of the family broke down in tears, saying that they had run out of both food and money at home, and had to resort to feeding their infant Milo mixed with sugar. She works as a cleaner but was forced to take leave during the MCO period, while her husband had to stop working in Singapore as he did not have a working permit.
“Both police officers took pity on their plight and took the family to a sundry shop, where they donated milk formula for the couple’s baby, who is only one year and four months old.” according to the post.
Based on the images, it seems that they also bought the poor family some essential food items like rice, eggs, and instant noodles. What a heartwarming sight! <3
At present moment, the family is said to be living in a rented room in Taman Tampoi Indah.
It is acts like this that continue to inspire faith in the unity that we Malaysians have for each other during such difficult times. We salute these two police officers for their kindness and compassion.
