A police officer’s quick action in saving a small kitten stuck on the tyre of a Perodua MyVi at the traffic light junction in front of Aman Sentral in Alor Setar, Kedah has drawn the plaudits of Malaysians recently.
The video, originally posted on TikTok and re-uploaded by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on its official Facebook page has since garnered over 31,000 views and more than 980 reactions.
In the video, the police officer, Sergeant Mohd Effendi Karponan from the Kedah Police Contingent’s Transport (Technical) Branch can be seen approaching a white Perodua MyVi during the red light and telling its driver to steer to the left so that its tyres faced outwards.
He then went down to the tyre to try and grab the kitten which somehow got stuck on top of the tyre. However, his first attempt at grabbing the kitten failed.
The female passenger in the vehicle in front of the MyVi then called Effendi and provided him with a water bottle so that the Sergeant could use the water to make the kitten move.
The police officer then returned to the MyVi and after splashing some water at the kitten to make it move, he then instructed the driver to turn the tyres inwards and tried to grab the kitten again.
This time, his attempt was successful and after returning the water bottle to the caring bystander, Effendi brought the kitten to safety by the side of the road. All of this happened just as the traffic light turned green.
