With the festive season right around the corner, people should be celebrating with their loved ones (while adhering to SOPs).
But such celebrations can be difficult when you lose the roof above your head in a blink of an eye.
Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Uncle Kentang, took to his Facebook page to showcase an aunty who had just been evicted from her rented room in Kepong. She has since been sleeping at the corridor of the flat for three days, along with all her belongings and only RM12 to her name.
He wrote, “Locked out. We started out hotline, 03-80656666 and ironically, the first call to drop in is about a Chinese lady being evicted from her rented room. Her belongings were removed and strewn at the tight corridor of the flat at Suria Magna Flat, Kepong. She’s helpless as she only has RM12. She claimed she tried to get help from people and politicians there but to no avail. She slept for the past three days at the corridor with her belongings.”
“She claimed she has not bathed for the past three days. She looked tired and worn out. We gave her some money and will try to get her lodging and we will invite her for a reunion dinner with us. She is so pitiful and alone. We told her, we will stand with her. At her age, it is difficult to get a job in this pandemic.”
“We thank all the Kentangrians for setting up the hotline and thank God the first call to drop in is this case. You can call it a coincidence, but God has a plan for her. Thanks to all of you good hearts for setting up the call centre. Our number, 03-80656666,” he added.
We genuinely hope that Uncle Kentang manages to help her with everything she needs, as no one should be left out in the cold this festive season.
