The pandemic has caused many to become desperate, as they have lost their sources of income and are struggling to provide for their hungry families.
One father, who had previously been working as an operations manager, was forced to be on unpaid leave and has been trying to make ends meet for the sake of his family for the last three months.
Zahid (*name changed for privacy purposes), who is originally from Egypt, shared with WORLD OF BUZZ that he is urgently looking for a job in an effort to make an honest living for his wife and his 6-month-old son.
Son has been admitted to the hospital twice
“I was working in a good position but due to the pandemic, I am on unpaid leave and I have used my savings to survive the last three months. We had to move out of my rented house into a cheaper option because I couldn’t afford it anymore,”
“I have to buy milk formula for my son and food, and pay rent and pay for our bike instalment,” he said.
Zahid, who is married to a Malaysian woman, added that his wife cannot work as she needs to take care of their son, who may have a rare condition that local doctors are unfamiliar with.
“The load has become too much and my wife cannot work because our son is so young and he needs to be taken care of since he has been admitted to the hospital twice,” he added.
Local companies won’t hire him
Living in Bandar Menjalara, Kuala Lumpur, Zahid apparently tried applying for jobs at local companies with his valid spouse visa but was rejected as they are only looking to hire Malaysians.
“It’s so hard to say all of this but my main concern is my wife and my son. If anyone can help me, I can do any kind of job, I am totally flexible and ready,”
“I’ve reached the breaking point with my account only having RM2.82 in it and I can’t find any legal way to support my family,” he added.
