So, for those of you who may not know, 6 Malaysian states are in preparation for upcoming state elections after their state assemblies (DUNs) were dissolved. These states are Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu.

And while some states have ordered their members of the assembly to return their official vehicles to the authorities, it is alleged that the Kelantan state government will only return their vehicles only after they confirm their loss in the upcoming elections.

Harakatdaily took to their Twitter page to showcase a video of the deputy state commissioner for PAS and now former Kelantan deputy menteri besar, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah apparently stating that he would rather keep his official car until after the results of the election as he would not ride in a Perodua Viva (a vehicle lesser than his official car).

It is important to note that the Kelantan state official vehicles are Mercedes.

Harakatdaily wrote, “Kelantan PAS Exco will only return official vehicles when they have confirmed to have been defeated (in the upcoming state elections). ‘As though I’d ride in a Viva‘, he (Datuk Mohd Amar) said with a smile.”

Many took offense to this as it sounds like the he is degrading the Malaysian-made vehicle that countless locals use and rely on in their daily lives.

“It’s an insult to you to ride in a Viva. Speaking with such arrogance.”

Viva 2

“Is the Viva so insulting? Damned exco.”

Viva 3

“A Viva is also a vehicle. It doesn’t matter what the vehicle is, even a sampan, what’s most important is that you safely reach your destination. What kind of thinking is this?”

Viva 4

“Vivas are Malaysian-made, what’s wrong with that? Right? Don’t know la this old man.”
