Kajang Hospital Security Staff Arrested for Extorting Visitors with Non-Existent Parking Fees

A security personnel, who had allegedly charged non-existent parking fees and made threatening remarks to visitors at the Kajang Hospital, was arrested by the police yesterday (May 19).

According to a report by Kosmo, Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, shared that his department received a police report from a 31-year-old woman regarding allegations that the security staff had asked for RM50 as parking fees from her mother.

This incident occurred in December of last year, at about 4pm, at the hospital.

“The security staff was seen trying to take advantage of the situation by extorting cash from hospital visitors if they parked their vehicles in unauthorised spots. In addition to this, the security personnel also made rude threats during the incident,” Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said.

The 28-year-old security staff was remanded until today to assist in investigations under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion as well as under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

 

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is calling on anyone with information about this incident to contact their nearest police station or the investigating officer of this case, Inspector Ghazali Zulkifli, at 016-9140758 to assist in the investigations.
