Scammers will come up with techniques and new modus operandi to do what they do best – deceiving with “enticing” offers to the point that you feel unright not to give them the required amount of money.
In an interview, Malaysian actress Puteri Sarah recently revealed that a scammer disguised herself as another actress and offered her something “lucrative” – to keep a Datuk company.
“I was offered RM15,000 and I was told that all I had to do was just to keep him company for a coffee.”
Speaking to the media friends, Puteri Sarah said the scammer disguised as Nadia Brian, another Malaysian actress who asked if she was busy. Thinking that the person on the other line was indeed Nadia, Puteri shared her schedule but was shocked when “Nadia” wanted her to meet a VIP from JB, reported Kosmo.
“I thought she wanted me to meet a producer. But I suspected something was off when she told me ‘no photo no video,’ and all I had to do was to keep the Datuk company for a cup of coffee before I got the RM15,000.”
Puteri insisted and told the other person on the line that she would not do that. Soon after her response, Puteri double-checked with the actual Nadia Brian, who said she had not contacted Puteri about any offer.
Shockingly, the identity thief then asked Puteri for the contact info of other actresses.
“I told the other person that I would never do such things. I won’t keep anyone company.”
Puteri has lodged a police report about the matter.
It’s like the idea to scam breeds every day. When 1 MO fails, another one comes into play.
