A few days ago, a family of 7 in Johor went viral after they shared how they were happily living in a hut built with wood and discarded recycled materials.
They had decided to live in the hut after the father shared that he couldn’t afford to rent a house and did not want to burden other family members.
Meanwhile, the head of the area said that he hoped that the relevant agencies would be able to come forward and offer appropriate assistance to the poverty-stricken family.
It seems that the news has caught the attention of Johor’s government who has since stepped in to offer some help to the family. According to Bernama, the state government has since moved the family into a rental house which is fully funded by the Johor State Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ).
Meanwhile, State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the household items for the house will be provided by the state’s Social Welfare Department (JKM).
“These people are from asnaf families, so the monthly allowance will be channelled to them. Besides providing them with a rental house, we will also take this family to shop for household items, including clothes and other essentials.”
He said that the family is eligible to get a new house and the application process for that purpose will be done by the state government through MAINJ and the district office.
Meanwhile, the family have expressed their gratitude for the attention and help that has given new hope to their family.
“I feel very grateful for the help given by the state government and all parties. My hope after this is to focus on continuing to support the family for the future of the children,” said the father.
He said that now the government is providing them with a rented house, he won’t need to worry about the safety of his wife and children.
