JACKPOT!

Three cousins from Johor and one individual from Sabah hit jackpots in the first Sports Toto draw for 2021 on 2 January, with the two jackpots amounting to a total of RM53.2 million!

According to Oriental Daily, the three cousins won the RM48.4 million Supreme Toto 6/58 jackpot after betting on numbers from their ages and dates of birth. The trio had only spent RM6 for three advance draws (RM2 per draw) and walked away with a whopping RM48,374,249.60.

They said that it had always been their habit to share the bets.

“We would come out with different combinations of numbers and I, as the first cousin, would buy the tickets,” said the 51-year-old first cousin, who is a housewife.

“This time, we decided to bet on our age and birth dates to be our winning set of numbers – 19, 20, 29, 47, 50 & 52.”

The Sun Daily reported that the second cousin, who is a 47-year-old businessman, did not believe the news when he heard that they had won the bet and even had sleepless nights just thinking about how to spend the winnings.

However, the third cousin, who is a 41-year-old businessman, said they planned to save the winnings for when they really need it, especially since the pandemic is now at a worrying stage.

“It was the first draw of the year so I wanted to try my luck and I did it!” she said.

The 40-year-old civil servant said she hasn’t decided what she’s going to use the winnings for but plans to donate part of it to charitable organisations.
