The Johor branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is investigating an incident involving an individual altering a Singaporean vehicle registration number to “steal” RON95 petrol at a petrol station in the district.
Johor KPDN Director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the department has received a report and an investigation team has been mobilised for inspection purposes.

“The complainant has lodged a report in the system, and the team has already been deployed for inspection and investigation.”
“We are currently waiting for the report and investigation results. Updates will be provided later,” she said when contacted.
Caught refueling RON95 petrol
Earlier, in a viral 1-minute-30-second video, an adult man was seen refueling RON95 petrol at a petrol station suspected to be in Kulai district into a vehicle with a Singaporean registration plate.
The man covered several letters on the plate with tape to make it appear as though the plate was Malaysian.
The video owner claimed this could be a new tactic by Singaporeans to deceive authorities by covering the first and last letters of the foreign registration plate so it looks like a local vehicle.

When approached and questioned by the video owner, the individual claimed they were not Singaporean but a local citizen, before attempting to leave the location immediately.
Meanwhile, Kulai District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said action will be taken against the vehicle owner if the registration plate is found to violate regulations.
