It’s always fascinating to see how some foreigners can love our country as much as we Malaysians do. The viral Japanese YouTuber couple in Malaysia who had to leave after reaching their 180 days tourist visa limit may return to our country soon.

In a YouTube video which was released yesterday (January 17), the couple revealed that their DE Rantau Nomad Pass has been approved by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). However, they are still waiting for approval from the Immigration Department, which will take 14 working days.

“We are so happy when we received the e-mail from MDEC,” they expressed.

At the time of writing, the man, Jimmy said that the couple is staying at a tiny apartment in Hong Kong, and he has left his job since MDEC approved their Nomad Pass. They also shared a screenshot of a tweet about them that raised the attention of Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who then replied,

“Actually, their application was approved a few days ago, but they still need to procedurally leave the country and come back in.”

In response to the people who have helped the couple, the woman, iChang said, “this is unreal, I still can’t believe it.”

Jimmy, on the other hand, has a unique way to describe the feeling.

“Now it’s like Genkidama (Spirit bomb). All the individual power, thoughts, tweet, messages, kind messages, and the media.”

Jimmy also said that he has been working at his workplace in Hong Kong for 11 years, however, the e-mail from MDEC prompted him to resign immediately.

“I had no hesitation at all of quitting my job and going to Malaysia, since we get so much Genkidama.”

Jimmy added that it’s all about the huge support and love from Malaysians that convinced them to go back to Malaysia as soon as their visa application is approved. At the end of the video, the couple thanked all Malaysians who have helped them, including those who offered them job positions in Malaysia.

You can watch and listen to the full video below.

Welcome back to Malaysia, iChang and Jimmy! We hope that you will enjoy staying in Malaysia as much as we Malaysians do!
