The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) has announced a new initiative to help provide accurate information to the public and respond to any viral issues that arise in the country.
The initiative involves launching a podcast, with JAKIM also expressing its readiness to collaborate with influencers and social media content creators to address any issues or questions they may have.

Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee
BERNAMA quoted JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee as saying that the podcast would be called JUM (JAKIM Untuk Ummah) Podcast, which will cover relevant issues.
He added,
“We plan to invite our content creator friends (influencers) to come together so we can address any issues or questions they may have or those raised by the community,”
Sirajuddin further asserted that he welcomes influencers or content creators to reach out to JAKIM before making any comments on social media platforms.

He also advised content creators not to confuse the public and, if possible, they should consult JAKIM for some guidance before creating content so that the department can provide them with accurate input so that they can convey something positive.
The JAKIM director-general thus hoped that the initiative would help ensure influencers and social media content creators exercise greater caution when publishing or commenting on sensitive issues online.
Recently, JAKIM addressed various viral incidents, such as the controversial cross-dressing influencers at a major event and comedian Harith Iskander’s “Ham Sap Kopi” joke.
