The last time Jackie Chan filmed a movie in Malaysia was back in 1992, which was more than 3 decades ago. That was for the filming of New Police Story with Michelle Yeoh.
The legendary actor and martial artist recently revealed that he is expected to visit Malaysia again sometime next year for another movie production. During the media conference for his upcoming movie, Ride On, Jackie admitted that he misses the country and cannot wait to come back.
“I’m sure the fans in Malaysia will welcome me.”
During the conference which took place in Beijing, the 68-year-old joked that he’s not going to blow up places or “fly” through buildings anymore. However, he did not reveal much about the movie, except that it’s going to be a drama and not an action movie.
Jackie added that he has looked through the script of the movie, and the producers of the untitled film have also selected filming locations in Malaysia, which he did not disclose.
Another collaboration with Michelle Yeoh?
When Jackie was in Malaysia 31 years ago, many roads in KL were closed for the filming of his movie and the incident captured the entire country’s attention. According to Sin Chew, when asked about future collaborations with Michelle Yeoh or fellow martial artist Jet Li, Jackie’s response may disappoint many fans.
“That’s going to be really tough.”
During the conference, Jackie revealed that fans can expect to see him cry a lot in Ride On. In fact, he said that it’s his first movie where sheds a lot of tears. The veteran actor who is also an assistant director of the movie admitted that it was tough for him to cry sometimes.
“You need to develop emotions to cry. Sometimes I had to explain how to do things to others, and the next minute I had to cry. I didn’t even have time to shift my emotions!”
