The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has a stern reminder for residents of the low-cost flats (PPR) in the city.
Please pay your rent!
In a statement posted via DBKL’s Facebook page this morning (November 22), DBKL said despite the low rental fee, many residents are still skipping payments.
“Please keep in mind that the rental fee is very low based on the market price. It’s RM124 per month for a house with 2 to 3 rooms.”
“The low rental fee aims to help those in need but some irresponsible parties are taking it for granted and DBKL had no choice but to take stern actions”.
In its post, DBKL also reminded existing residents about the thousands of PPR applicants who are waiting for their turns to get their respective units, and that they should feel lucky to have secured themselves a place in the PPR.
“Please carry your due diligence by paying your rent. If not, don’t you think we should just give the space away to those who really need it?”
Still not paying your rent? A Task Force is headed your way
DBKL also revealed that a Task Force will be ready by December 2024 to handle the residents who are still NOT paying their rent, and let’s just say, they won’t be friendly.
“We will take action against those who don’t pay their rent. We will also implement a water cut, as well as terminate their rental contract.”
“This is not about affordability, but your attitude. The house that you’re staying in is a luxury. If you cannot respect that, DBKL will not hesitate to take action.”
This shall serve as a stern reminder to those who are “happily” skipping the payment.
