It was just like any other weekend, when Malaysian netizens were scrolling social media without a care in the world~ Until they unexpectedly encountered an unusual online phenomenon that’s been wrinkling their brain.
“Bro, don’t so fast please, I can’t catch (what you’re saying),” a TikTok user voiced his confusion, just when he was trying to watch his favourite movie critic sharing movie reviews.
Apparently, Malaysians all over social media have been seeing influencers uploading their own videos BUT they were fast-forwarded so quickly that sometimes, they simply can’t make out what’s happening! Is this some new ice bucket challenge or something?

It’s not just happening on TikTok – even Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram users aren’t safe from this odd online glitch(?)!
But don’t worry guys, we’re definitely not in The Matrix. After some online sleuthing, we finally discovered the source of this strange phenomenon – be sure to keep on reading to find out!
#FlashForward to save the timeline
Apparently, this otherworldly occurrence is part of the new up-and-coming trend of #FlashForward, where netizens post random super-sped-up videos.
In fact, the #FlashForward trend is inspired by the upcoming The Flash movie, with different #FlashForward versions of the movie trailer also being released online, to celebrate the release of the first-ever feature-length Flash movie!
The Flash sees Barry Allen a.k.a. the titular superhero (played by Ezra Miller) travelling back in time to save his mother from being murdered. However, little did Barry know that his actions would trap him in an alternate timeline where metahumans don’t exist.
To repair the timeline he inadvertently created, Barry enlists the help of his younger self (also Miller), an older Batman (Michael Keaton) and Supergirl (Sasha Calle) to defeat the resurfaced General Zod (Michael Shannon) and save the universe.
Needless to say, plenty of Malaysians were entertained by the #FlashForward trailers of everyone’s favourite speedster, with some even dubbing it as a ‘Chipmunk trailer’! ?
Though The Flash is only coming to Malaysian cinemas on 15 June, moviegoers overseas who caught early screenings of the DC movie have been giving it rave reviews, to the point that some claimed it’s one of the best superhero movies ever made!
The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti, who helmed the critically acclaimed It and It Chapter Two, and stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, with the latter three reprising their respective roles from Batman (1989), Man of Steel, and Justice League.
Catch The Flash in Malaysia on 15 June, with tickets available now! Get your tickets here, and don’t forget to follow Warner Bros. Malaysia on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for more updates on the Scarlet Speedster!
