According to ET Today, Zhang Jiaye had been receiving 18 treatments within a year for her terminal illness, which had put her family heavily in debt. The expensive treatments cost 590,000 yuan (RM362,380) and had put a lot of pressure on the family, who doesn’t earn much.

The emotional and financial pressure was too much for the little girl’s mother; however, instead of being supportive, she ran away from home. She left the family in July 2017 and has not been heard of ever since. Wow, really?

Although the little girl bravely went through her treatments, she saw her father shed tears one day when she was in the hospital. This caused her to write the sad, heartfelt letter that touched many netizens’ hearts.

She wrote, “Dad, I saw you secretly crying today. I’m so sad to see this. I know that you have spent a lot of money to treat my illness until you have run out of money. Because of me, mum has left as well. If I’m gone, then mum will come back and both of you can be happy like you were last time. I don’t want to be treated anymore. Let’s go home, okay?”

When her story went viral, netizens who were saddened by the family’s plight started pouring in donations to Zhang’s family. Apparently, 600,000 yuan (RM368,556) has since been collected to help with the poor little girl’s treatment. Her father, Zhang Mingliang said that his daughter would never stop fighting her illness and that he would remain by her side.

One user commented, “I read the whole story with tears in my eyes. Please let the public know her parent’s bank account details. Only by doing so, there is hope.” Another user said, “It’s so painful for parents to see their children suffering. It’s even easier to lose hope too because of poverty.”

Hopefully the little girl gets better soon! Stay strong!
