After losing his P.107 Sungai Buloh seat in GE15, Khairy Jamaluddin posted a new statement, saying that he accepts his loss and will take time to rest.

In his latest Instagram post, Khairy said that he had tried his best, but a loss is a loss regardless of how disappointed his supporters are, or how close the votes stand. He also thinks that he is “not good enough” for the people.

“Is this the end of the road? I’m quite certain it isn’t. But I want to reflect on this before I think about what I do next,” he said, adding that he is exhausted and wants to rest after two years of managing the pandemic. “It’s been a tough two years for me steering the country out of COVID. But it was a great privilege to serve the nation at such a critical time and I’m glad we have recovered better than many other countries.”

Khairy shared that it is still tremendous uncertainty about who will lead the country, and he hopes that the leaders whom the people elect will act with wisdom and compassion.

“The country needs stability and leadership more than ever. I wish you all the very best,” he said. Read his full statement here.
