While most SPM candidates were with their families while checking their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results, 18-year-old Nur Qalidah Farhana Mohd. Azman was working at a stall at an R&R (rest & relaxation) stop in Pagoh, Johor.
According to a report by Kosmo, the student from Sekolah Menengah Sains Muzaffar Shah in Ayer Keroh had taken a short break from manning a beverage counter to check her SPM results, and was proud and ecstatic to discover that she had scored 9As.

“At 10am, I stole a moment and checked the results on my phone, and was very surprised when I saw 9As. I immediately called my brother and mother (53-year-old Endon Dol Alim, who works as a sweeper at a school). My mother cried; she couldn’t believe it either. I still feel like I’m dreaming,” she said.
Big results, big dreams!
Being the youngest of 5 siblings, she started working at the R&R stall last Ramadan, in order to save money to further her studies.
“If possible, I want to progress into the field of Electrical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP),”
“My mum and dad, 55-year-old Mohd. Azman Selamat, who earns a living as a housekeeper, didn’t promise me anything if I received good results. But their prayers and support have been strong enough for me. My mother always told me to study hard and not to be like my parents. I still hold on to those words until now,” she said, with tears in her eyes.
A huge kudos to Nur Qalidah Farhana for her achievement!
