In October 2024, Malaysian singers Firdhaus and Diorlying Tan split after a 4-year relationship. The break up happened amicably, which was announced on both their social media accounts but in Diorlying’s recent Instagram stories which have expired, she hinted at Firdhaus’ alleged new partner, who came less than a month after the split.
Following the rumours about Firdhaus’ alleged new relationship, the Malay singer, who found fame with his ballad Gulf Of Alaska in 2020 via Douyin responded to the matter via a statement on his Instagram post @fffirdhaus on November 19, and stressed that not only did he not cheat but also that he is still single.
“I’ve never cheated, but I admit that I have developed feelings for this person”
In Diorlying’s Instagram story, she highlighted that she has never said that Firdhaus was cheating, but she was merely shocked that it didn’t seem to take long for Firdhaus to move on.
In his post, Firdhaus reiterated that he has NEVER cheated in his relationship with Diorlying but he did not deny seeing someone after the breakup.
“I met her years ago and we collaborated for a few times. Last month, we met again during my show in Australia and we got to know each other better.”
Firdhaus also opened up about his feelings, and said,
“I admit that I’ve developed feelings for her, and I travelled to Australia just to see her but currently, we are not dating.”
The singer also urged the public to STOP calling her a “3rd party” and posting her pictures online, to respect her privacy.
“These baseless accusations should stop. Please be rational.”
Firdhaus also took the opportunity to clarify other matters and said he has never spread fake news about Diorlying after the end of the relationship, and that the couple had always split the bills most of the time.
“Diorlying spent her own money for her music productions. She has never used my money for that purpose. She did it all on her own.”
At the end of his post, the Malay singer acknowledged that he is nowhere near perfect but is doing the necessary work to be a better person, and to love himself more.
In the meantime, China Press also reported that the scandal has hurt Firdhaus’ social media engagement, losing over 30,000 followers in just 4 days. As of November 19, his follower count on Instagram was at 593,000.
At the time of writing, Firdhaus has 591,000 followers on IG, showing another 2,000 drop in followers.
