The recent announcement of the official Olympics attire has sent many Malaysians into a frenzy, with most disapproving of its design. The outfit even caught the attention of a non-Malaysian content creator from Australia, who described it as resembling a pendidikan jasmani uniform.
Following the announcement of Malaysia’s official Olympic outfit, Khairy Jamaluddin recently appeared on a podcast wearing the team uniform from the 29th Southeast Asian Games 2017.
“I was feeling nostalgic”
During the “Keluar Sekejap” podcast, co-host Shahril Hamdan questioned the former Youth and Sports Minister’s choice of attire, asking if it was worn intentionally in response to the recent backlash over Malaysia’s Olympic outfit.
KJ quickly denied having any hidden message behind his outfit, explaining that he wore the shirt out of nostalgia and not for any particular reason. He said it was simply a sentimental choice with no other motive.
“This shirt was actually designed by a local company called Abstrax, and I really like it. I even approved the design myself,” he added.
Malaysians are just not having it!
The Malaysia’s official attire for the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris 2024 was launched on June 23rd.
The official attire, featuring a gold theme, was designed to symbolise Malaysia’s relentless pursuit of the elusive gold medal at the Olympics.
However, most Malaysians online were not impressed, reacting negatively to the official reveal, with the majority of the feedback being less than positive.
