Having a rich friend when you’re poor yourself isn’t easy and these two friends cut off all ties when the less fortunate girl unleashed her resentment on her richer friend. In a post shared on UTAR Confessions, the rich girl shared her story of how she stopped being friends with another girl.

The girl said that she is from a very well-off family and had a lot of friends when she was young. She quickly discovered that her friends liked her for her money, from secondary school until university, as she didn’t mind paying whenever they went out.
However, she had a friend known as A, who had been friends with her since secondary school, and they would always hang out together. A comes from a normal family that did not have money to buy a car, and had a 2.0 GPA in university. She saw that A loves going out with her and she didn’t mind paying for all of A’s expenses when they were out together.

“A used to be very unfashionable but as we grew up, we would often go shopping together. I understand that her family is not very well-off, so I would take the chance to buy clothes and makeup for her, as I just want to be happy.” Wah, so generous! Until one day, things came to a head when she realised she forgot to bring her purse out as both of them were ordering bubble tea.
She asked A to pay first and said she will pay her back next time. Suddenly, A said, “Next time remember to bring your purse otherwise I don’t want to go out with you anymore.” In shock, she replied, “Aiyoh, you guys only come out because I pay for everything.”

Both of them had an argument and in her resentment and jealousy, A said that the rich girl was using her money to buy friends. A added, “If it wasn’t because of your family’s money, you’re nothing. One day, I will be more successful than you and I will do it on my own, I won’t be useless like you.”
However, she wasn’t angry over A’s outburst and said that she had always treated her as a good friend. “I treated you better than my other friends but you took it for granted. You said you want to work hard and be more successful than me but I don’t see you doing anything to achieve this. You just hang around every day doing nothing, with a couldn’t-care-less attitude.”

“Honestly, I don’t think you’ll be successful if you don’t change your attitude. We go to the same university, are in the same course and have similar results. However, when I finish studying, I will come out and help in the family business. Everything in my life is already nicely arranged for me, unlike yours. Life is unfair. I’ve already helped you out a lot during secondary school and cannot help you anymore.”
“I drive a Mini Cooper to school but you have to walk. My life is already arranged nicely for me. A, I hope that you can change your ways and put away your resentment. I cannot help you pay your bills forever,” she said.
Netizens were shocked by A’s ungratefulness as the rich friend had been very generous. They also said that at first, they thought the post was just an immature student talking but after reading the whole thing, they felt that what she said was actually very logical.
