Abdul Rahman Ahmad used to work in a factory in Johor Bahru before he made this life-changing decision. Although there were some difficulties at first, Abdul Rahman finally managed to purchase a farm that was 0.8 hectares wide using the money he saved up.

“I used up the savings from my previous job to buy MD2 pineapple seeds from a seller in Simpang Renggam, Kluang.”

“In the beginning, I planted 2,000 seeds which took 12 months to finally mature. I would then try to sell it to people passing by in front of my orchard at Kampung Parit Panjang,” he said.

Utusan also reported that Abdul Rahman sells about 1,000 pineapples each week with the help of his wife, Maslinda Mastor, 41. The price of the fruit depends on its size, but are usually sold from RM2 to RM4 per kilogram.

If an MD2 pineapple weighs about 2kg, that’s approximately RM4,000 to RM8,000 per week!

Abdul Rahman also mentioned that his business was not only confined to Johor, but has expanded to other states as well.

“My customers are not only from Johor. I also sell my pineapples to clients from Melaka, Perak, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.”

“A lot of people buy my pineapples during the Chinese New Year season as it is commonly known as a symbol of prosperity,” he added.
