Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s conviction and sentencing into Kajang Prison was met by celebrations by certain sects of the country, whilst others continued to defend him.
The question now lies on whether or not the Yang di-Pertuan Agong will grant him a royal pardon to free him, much to the anguish of Malaysians.
Recently, Najib shared an update on how he is doing via a Facebook post. In the post, he says that he is spending most of his time behind bars penning his thoughts which he intends to share with others.
He said that his daughter, Nooryana Najwa – who he affectionately calls “Gina” – informed him that many had asked about his welfare and condition.
“I am using much of my time to jot down my views and pass them on to my lawyers or family which are to be shared with all,” he wrote.
“There may be a bit of delay but what else can I do? These (jottings) are all I am able to do.”
He added that he is allowed to meet with his family members and lawyers at permitted visiting times.
Najib said that he would use the meetings to enquire on the latest issues, including court matters.
“For the time being, I am in good health and calm. Alhamdulillah,” Najib added.
Najib is currently serving a 12-year sentence in Kajang Prison following the Federal Court’s decision on August 23 to uphold his corruption conviction involving RM42 million of SRC International funds. Also upheld was a RM210 million fine against him.
