Anyone with a fear of heights knows how it feels to have a million scary thoughts go through their heads as they ride a cable car.
Though sadly, those scary thoughts became a reality for 8 people, 6 school students aged 10 to 16-years-old and 2 teachers in Pakistan, when one of the cables carrying the Dolly (which is a local term for cable car) snapped, leaving the cable car dangling 274 meters above a ravine for 15 hours before they were all rescued.
Sky News took to their TikTok account to showcase drone footage of the dangling cable car, before the passengers were rescued, and honestly, it’s heartbreaking and horrifying.
They wrote, “Extraordinary drone footage shows 6 school children and their teachers trapped inside a cable car dangling over a river canyon in Pakistan.”
In the video, the passengers inside the cable car can be seen hanging on for dear life at the terrifying height.
It is reported that the group was taking the cable car as a cheap and quick mode of transportation to reach their school located in a village on top of the mountain. While the road journey up the mountain would have taken them 2 hours, the cable car cuts the trip short into a mere 4 minutes.
The Dolly carrying the passengers was allegedly the 5th trip of the day, when the cable snapped.
We’re so happy that all those inside brought back to the ground, safe and sound.
