Heroes are everywhere and they don’t necessarily wear capes, as we all know. This has been proven once again by this 29-year-old man in China, who risked his life to save a 68-year-old lady.

On Thursday, Xu Qian Kai was just going through an ordinary day working on the train which was approaching Chongqing station. At around 3.00pm, he stood at the back of the train and was looking out for any obstacles along the way so he could inform the train operators.

According to Chinapress, he suddenly saw an old lady standing in the middle of the train tracks, about 5 metres in front of the fast-approaching train. He quickly pressed the emergency brake and shouted and whistled to attract the old lady’s attention but she had no reaction.

Without thinking twice, the heroic young man jumped out from the train and ran over to try to pull the old lady to safety but failed in his first attempt. He pulled her again and managed to get her out of harm’s way but he fell down in the process and unfortunately, he had no time to retract his right leg which caused the train to run over his leg. OMG, imagine the pain! Poor guy!

The whole incident happened in less than 10 seconds and both Xu and the old lady was sent to the hospital for treatment. Thanks to Xu’s quick thinking, the old lady survived the ordeal with just a few surface injuries but Xu’s leg suffered serious damage.

Apparently the old lady had a hearing problem and did not hear Xu’s shouts which is why she did not move out of the way. The brave young man had to have his right leg amputated to save his life and the old lady went to thank him but found that he was still in a coma.

She kowtowed her thanks in front of his bed for his heroic rescue of her life. Luckily, Xu made it through the operation and is in a stable condition. This amazing young lad even says he has no regrets over his actions even though he lost a leg.

He said, “Although I have lost a leg, but that is a human life. If the incident happened again, I would still do the same thing.”

Kudos to this young man for his brave and heroic deeds! The world needs more people like him!
